ra1ndropGeohot released his jailbreak for iOS 4.1 a few days ago.  It’s in beta, so if you’re feeling adventurous or aren’t scared of beta software, then visit limera1n.com.

It’s not a one-click jailbreak like blackra1n was, but it still get’s it done (more or less).  It is slightly buggy, but I managed to get it to work.

Unfortunately, this jailbreak did not come without it’s drama.  Hit the jump for the full story.

IMG_0090This is one of my favorite iPhone apps.  Lose It! is a diet app for those of us looking to cut off some of our bellies and show that nice bod that has been hiding underneath.

The concept of the app is quite simple: track what you eat.  When you first launch the app, you will be asked a few questions about your body, such as your weight, height, age, and gender.  Once you answer these questions, the app will set up a daily calorie limit for you based on that information.  From there, you simply record the food you eat and the app will add up the calories you’ve had so far and tell you how much is left.  You can also track your exercise as well.

IMG_0091The app also features a weight tracker which graphs your progress as you move closer to, or farther away from, your goal weight.

Other features of the app include online backup to LoseIt.com, the ability to track nutrients in addition to calories, and integration with Facebook and Twitter.

And let me say this app works nicely.  It helps me watch my food intake, and I’ve managed to lose 3lbs with it in the 2 weeks I’ve been using it.

Best of all, Lose It! is absolutely FREE in the app store.  So if you need to drop a few (or few hundred) pounds, get Lose It! today and start Losing It!

pineapple-225x300Some bad news for those who will be buying an iPhone soon (me): The iPhone Dev-Team has officially stated that they will not be releasing a jailbreak for iOS 4.0.2.  The reason is that they believe the cat-and-mouse game is getting too far with Apple releasing updates only to patch holes, most notably the recent jailbreakme.com hole.  Also, they want to wait for FW 4.1 to find a bug, rather than find one in 4.0.2, only to have it patched up in 4.1.  So in a sense they have good reason.  I just hope 4.1 is out before I buy my iPhone :)

Hotmail-activesync An update for Hotmail (Windows Live Mail) to be released this Monday will contain Exchange ActiveSync support.  This will allow people to plug their phones into their account and receive push email as soon as it arrives.  This is a feature Gmail has been rocking for a while, which also includes contacts and calendar sync.  Whether or not this will be in Exchange Hotmail is unknown.

Bell to release BlackBerry 6 updates in 2011

Well here’s some interesting (and rather unfortunate) news for BlackBerry owners: apparently Canada’s Bell Mobility is planning not to release BlackBerry 6 updates for devices which were deemed capable, namely the BlackBerry Curve 3G, the Pearl 3G, and the Bold 9700. It leads one to wonder of other carriers will follow and hold back updates.  [Click for More]
